Winter Weather On The Way December 2, 2009

Forecasters are predicting the first snowfall of the season, with possibilities beginning tonight through early Saturday. With this will bring slick driving conditions as temperatures drop below freezing. Even if significant snow does not develop, daytime high temperatures at or below freezing will cause “black ice” to be present in unexpected areas.

The SBPD urges all drivers to exercise caution in the presence of icy roads. As we all make the transition to winter weather driving it’s a good idea to allow extra travel time, leave more space between other vehicles and above all, slow down. We also suggest having your window scraper handy, as vision obstructions (such as ice or snow) are a major cause of traffic accidents.

Help keep the streets and school zones safe by being extra careful on slick roads this week and all winter long.
